The following is an excerpt from the book, City of Ruin, by Naria Heft. [Originally published five years ago.]

Purportedly, bladed weapons are favored in Kurtow, with many using knives, machetes, axes, and, in some cases, swords for defense. Easier to find and maintain than firearms, these weapons are more readily available—even if they have their own set of disadvantages. Lacking the long-range effectiveness that firearms provide, and eventually dulling with use, bladed tools may not need ammunition, but still require maintenance. Blunt-force weapons, such as hand-made maces, hammers, and baseball bats are yet another division of weapons that have seen widespread use in Kurtow, championed for their durability.
