No Bull—A Back To Basics Approach
By Aven Rode

On today’s cutting-edge battlefield of autonomous mechs, power suits, and combat androids, the D-X044 Bullfrog might seem like an archaic throwback. Horizon Global Solution’s latest armored vehicle is touted as a light-weight, mobility-focused answer to the slower, less maneuverable N-M30. On the surface, the D-X044 may not impress, but its Raktos-12 armored plating and HyperCentrum engine is more than enough to turn heads. Weighing in at a meager 8 tons and capable of reaching speeds of 180mph, the D-X044 is no slouch when it comes to mobile combat. Where many new armored vehicles are adding an increasingly large array of weaponry and tech-based features, the Bullfrog is stripped-down to the bare essentials—and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The D-X044 makes no promises it can’t keep, and what it does, it does well.

Another point in the D-X044’s favor is an inexpensive price tag, which has already made it a hot ticket item for various PMCs and developing nations. Though the Bullfrog may not be leading the charge on a battlefield, it’s destined to serve as auxiliary support and could very well be a tide-changer in strategic combat scenarios. Whether other companies will also adopt a more basic approach to their armored vehicles remains to be seen, but Horizon Global Solutions’ latest release proves that there’s a strong market for simpler mass-production models capable of simply getting the job done.
